Liz Fact #9
I love hearing people talk about their families and past.  Today in one of my classes, we had this sort of really emotional and open conversation about ourselves and who we are and where we are from.  I just love the way people talk about those sort of things.  Like I truly enjoy that everyone has different perspectives, yet that we all have some resounding similarities.   And hearing people talk...

Just to let you guys know...
I just jumped up, off the toilet, to answer the door.  Why was I in such a hurry to answer the door?  I thought it was the UPS man with my new bong pieces.  Instead? It was Jehovah’s Witnesses, and I just talked to them for 15 minutes.   Ugh, the pains of having a ground level apartment!

Where I'm From
I’m from shameful laughter And guilt-ridden pews; From smoky rooms And typography rants. I’m from reading for solace And storytelling for sanity; From “Act like a lady,” And “No one will love you.” I’m from tight greenhouse breaths And crab apple tree swings; From overpowering American society And needing to be ‘right.’ I’m from dreams about deer And yearning for silence; From the love of my...

Frantic Sadness
Sometimes I get this overhaul of Pockets of sadness. They come, flying at me, looming, casting shadows all over my face.   They’re hot.   I juggle them. Searching to find somewhere To put them all. I shove them into cupboards, I push them into holes, I thrust them away from my body. They come back. All they want is to become tears, to become sobs, to become unbearable ...

Mid-Grilled-Cheese-Egg-Sandwich Making...
My stove turns off.  And so did 90% of everything electrical in my apartment.  So…uh.  Half-cooked eggs and no melted cheese?  No.   Chilling in the Tower office until these bitches fix my electricity.
